Summer in Qatar is not over yet, but some light can finally be seen at the end of the tunnel, according to local meteorologists who say the country is beginning to see a “gradual improvement” in the weather.
For one, the humidity that left many Qatar residents feeling sticky has begun to dissipate this month.
Though this has led to hotter temperatures – the high on most September days has surpassed 40C – the receding humidity also signals a change in wind direction from easterly to northwesterly, the Qatar Meteorology Department said.
The MET continued:
“(This) will lead to an increase in wave height with a gradual improvement in weather generally, and specifically during dawn.”

In a Gulf Times article titled “The road to winter,” Al Jazeera English senior meteorologist Steff Gaulter elaborates on the change:
“As the winds return to their default direction and the heat subsides, the weather will also start to become rather more varied. If you are new to Doha, you might be surprised to hear that we do have days when the weather in Qatar isn’t wall to wall sunshine, in fact you may well be surprised how cool it can become in the winter.”
She added that dust storms and even rain showers would likely be seen in the coming months.

The cold tap is now cool enough to bath a baby in. This, for me, is a sure sign that winter is coming to Qatar.
