Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani visited the 35th Doha International Book Fair on Thursday morning at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), where he toured a number of exhibitions, reviewed cultural initiatives and met young writers participating in the event.
At the start of the tour, the Amir viewed the “This is Qatar” book project, which was launched as the Guest of Honour initiative for this year’s edition of the fair. He also explored a range of newly released publications and titles presented by publishing houses from Qatar, the wider Arab world and several foreign countries.
During the visit, the Amir was briefed on the cultural programmes, events and knowledge-based initiatives accompanying the exhibition, which this year features a wide range of literary, educational and interactive activities aimed at promoting reading and cultural exchange.
The Amir also visited the “Doha Children’s Zone”, where educational and interactive activities are being held for younger visitors as part of the fair’s family-focused programming.
He met several young writers taking part in the event and reviewed activities designed to encourage creativity and reading among children and youth.
The Doha International Book Fair is one of Qatar’s leading annual cultural events, bringing together publishers, writers and cultural institutions from across the region and beyond.
The exhibition serves as a platform for showcasing new publications and strengthening cultural and intellectual exchange.
The Amir was accompanied during the tour by Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as several ministers and senior officials.
