Here’s a short tour of Harding Meyer’s Eye to Eye: Portraits exhibit, which is currently on display at Katara Cultural Village.

The exhibit, which opened on Wednesday, will run through June 23, 2013, and can be viewed at Building 18 from 8am to 5pm. Here’s part of the description:

It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul; this popular saying is very well illustrated in the artist’s work. When first admiring one of Harding’s paintings the first thing the spectator realizes are the eyes and how deep they manage to involve us in a matter of seconds.

The subjects selected for the portrait paintings might be chosen at random, or on a very informal manner, but the depiction of the subjects is always very focused and intimate,

Harding, who lives and works near Germany, will serve as an artist in residence at the Katara Art Studios, directing portrait painting workshops and working with local artists.
