As the U.S.-Israel war on Iran intensifies, Qatar and Egypt have called for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani received a phone call on Saturday from Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the latest military escalation in the region and its implications for regional and international security.
During the conversation, Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Doha’s condemnation of recent Iranian attacks on Qatari territory, stressing that such actions are unacceptable under any pretext. He also noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts while working to bridge Iran and the international community.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the need to halt further escalation and return to negotiations, urging all parties to prioritise reason and diplomacy to contain the crisis and safeguard regional stability.
For his part, Egypt’s foreign minister called for de-escalation, a return to negotiations, and diplomacy to prevent further chaos.
The call follows a week of intensifying military exchanges, with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iran launching retaliatory attacks on U.S. bases across the Gulf and other countries in the region, including strikes on Qatari territory.
