Ballistic missile strikes continued to target U.S. military bases across the Gulf on Saturday, causing damage to infrastructure in several countries throughout the region.
Iranian ballistic missile strikes continue to hit U.S. military bases across Gulf states on Saturday, damaging critical infrastructure and triggering sweeping precautionary and diplomatic measures across the region, hours after coordinated U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iranian territory.
Qatar strongly condemned what it described as the targeting of its territory, calling it a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and a direct infringement on its security and territorial integrity.
In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as an unacceptable escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
The ministry affirmed Qatar’s “full right to respond to this targeting in accordance with the provisions of international law and in a manner proportionate to the nature of the aggression.”
It also condemned Iranian strikes on Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Bahrain.
Sources from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps told Al Jazeera that attacks on Israel and U.S. bases in the region would continue without pause.
Radar facility targeted in Qatar
An official from the Qatari Ministry of Defence told Al Jazeera that one of the missiles struck a long-range early-warning radar located north of Qatar.
Authorities said material damage is being assessed, without providing further operational details.
Attacks and interceptions across the Gulf
In Kuwait, authorities confirmed that missile strikes caused damage to Kuwait International Airport, disrupting operations and raising concerns over the targeting of civilian infrastructure.
Italy’s foreign minister said the Iranian attack caused “significant damage” to the runway of Kuwait’s facility, which also hosts Italian air force personnel.
Bahrain said that the 5th Fleet’s service centre was targeted by an Iranian missile strike on Saturday, while the UAE said it had intercepted two rounds of Iranian missile attacks, with debris from the first wave killing a civilian in Abu Dhabi.
