Starting Monday, April 7, Qatar’s Armed Forces will hold parachuting exercises in the Sealine area and over the Qalayel desert, QNA reports.

The exercises will take place at Sealine on Monday from 7am to noon at an altitude of 9,000 feet, with a radius of 1.5 miles.

Parachuters will also be practicing in the Qalayel desert from April 8-10, from 7am to noon. During this time, “the General Command urged visitors of concerned areas to exercise caution for their own safety,” QNA states.

Disaster camp

Meanwhile, emergency preparedness is also the topic at hand for teams of volunteers in Al Khor. At the Marine Scout Camp there, hundreds of representatives from governmental and non-governmental groups have been practicing emergency responses during a 10-day session that started April 1.

Topics such as first aid, water and sanitation, shelter, registration, logistics and communication are being discussed and put into practice with various simulations.

In a statement, the Qatar Red Crescent, which is organizing the training, said that the fifth disaster management camp “seeks to create a culture of disaster preparedness in Qatari society and educate citizens on how to deal with emergencies.”
