The Wakra Fish Market, photos by Retro Salz and contributed to the Doha News Flickr Group.
The photographer explains:
After the Jum’aa (Friday) prayer, this market gets all filled with people. Fresh fishes would be there. Man thats worth a sight, lol. And within 30 mins all the market gets empty. The good thing is that after selling all the fishes, they WASH the whole place, you will see alot of cats there, lol, but well to keep them away fishermen would throw small fishes for them outside. Oh, and in this picture, the old man was eating his lunch and this stray cat wasn’t going away, so the old man gave half of his sandwich to this cat . The man behind the old man was just a customer there. As a girl, I should feel disgusted by the smell of fishes, but really I don’t really feel disgusted.
She has amusing stories behind her photos. Anyone ever been?
