Some 50 days ahead of the country’s next official holiday, the Qatar Olympic Committee has unveiled a new logo for National Sport Day.

The holiday, which was held for the first time this year as a way of combating rising rates of obesity and diabetes here, is to be marked on the second Tuesday of every February.

This year, it will be held on Feb. 12.

The new logo, which was unveiled yesterday, depicts a running person over the NSD lettering. Each color on the logo stands for something, QOC said:

The logo contains six colors which are maroon (the color of Qatar’s flag), light red (energy, happiness and sun rise), green (life, nature and growth), black (energy and power), yellow (creativity) and Blue (Peace and Confidence).

QOC has also launched an official website for the upcoming holiday. Information about NSD-related events are to be posted on it shortly, organizers said.

Meanwhile, Qatar is soliciting residents’ feedback on the states of sports and health here via a brief survey conducted by the Statistics Authority.

Among the topics covered: how you feel about your own body structure, thoughts on the first National Sports Day that was held in February and what your favorite sports activities are.

Thoughts?
