Search continues after three brothers believed drowned off Wakra coast

Authorities are hunting for the remaining child after three brothers – aged 11, 13, and 15 – were apparently pulled into the water by strong currents while picnicking along the Wakra coast on the weekend.

The boys were swimming at the time, around 6pm on Saturday, when they disappeared from sight, according to media reports. Their father immediately called the police, and boats, helicopters and divers were dispatched to recover the children.

Some of the 25 rescue workers involved in the operation recovered the bodies of the 15-year-old and the 13-year-old that night, but have yet to located the 11-year-old, the Al Sharq and Gulf Times newspapers said.

Arabic daily Al Raya, meanwhile, reports that the area was known to be dangerous but had no warning signs posted, and residents are calling for an investigation into the incident.

Were you there? Did you know the family? What do you think about the lack of proper warnings in a dangerous spot?
