In an effort to dispel stereotypes and help residents better understand the local culture, social forum ILoveQatar.net has been posting weekly QTips on its Youtube channel.
The short videos tackle questions about shaking hands with the opposite gender, how to sit without offending anyone’s sensibilities and what Qataris wear underneath their national attire.
Speaking to Doha News, ILQ co-founder Khalifa Saleh Al Haroon said:
“ILQ’s goal has always been to bridge the gap between expats and locals. What better a way than to create simple bite-sized episodes that share basic cultural norms.
Some friends told me it was difficult finding a guide to Qatari culture and I think that our clips answers that need in a fun way. The amazing thing is that there have been other Qataris who have shown interested in contributing to QTips – it’s fantastic.”
