Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has left Turkey after meeting with the country’s president, prime minister and other senior officials to discuss “strategic and military issues related to the Syrian crisis,” according to news reports.

The visit came as Turkey and Saudi Arabia said they could launch a ground operation against IS. The Turkish foreign minister also said yesterday that Riyadh would be sending war planes to a Turkish base to help fight the militants.
