Qatar’s 787s still out of action as biggest Dreamliner operator, ANA, grounds fleet until end of May

The world’s biggest operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA), has decided to ground its fleet until at least the end of May, reports Sky News. 

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways‘ own fleet of five 787s remains grounded for the foreseeable future, with the airline cancelling some flights, and putting replacement aircraft on other routes previously operated by the aircraft.

The airline has yet to issue an update about its plans for the fleet, and declined to comment when we contacted it this afternoon. 

The worldwide grounding of the 787 last month followed a directive from the Federal Aviation Authority in the USA, pending a safety inquiry into a potential fire risk from the aircraft’s battery.
