Qatari woman elected new Arab Parliament Deputy Speaker, becoming first Gulf woman to hold the post

Aisha Yusuf Al Mannai is the current Dean of the Faculty of Shariah Law and and Islamic Studies at Qatar University.

Set up by the Arab League in 2004 as a sort of regional governing body, it remains unclear what the Arab Parliament actually does.
