2013 International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show Doha

There are wedding dresses to browse, skateboarding tricks to admire, and a plethora of new skills to learn in Doha this weekend. Here’s our pick of what to do in and around the city.

Wedding exhibition

Saying “I do” soon, or simply love all things glamorous and bridal? If so, head to the 7th International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show at QNCC this weekend.

The three-day show, which features planners, designers, and jewelers, starts on June 18, and it’s open from noon to 10pm. The exhibition is initially for women-only, and runs from noon to 3pm, after which it opens to everyone. Admission is free.

BMX and skateboarding competition

Catch Qatar’s best BMX riders and skateboarders at the Aspire Zone (Pitch 6) this weekend from 6 to 9pm.

The three-day extreme sports show, starting on June 19, will feature skateboarding workshops for children, and demonstrations from over 15 of the best athletes in the country.

The final day, June 21, will see professional skateboarders compete in a showdown for the title.

Admission is free and open to everyone. More information can be found here, and here is a map showing the location of the event.

An introduction to Islamic art

On June 21, the Qatar Museums Authority will hold an introduction course on Islamic art. The lesson, which runs from 10am to 5pm, will teach both theory and practice, giving participants an opportunity to learn geometry, calligraphy, and Islimi (floral design).

The class is free and open to everyone. To book a seat, email spuppin@qma.org.qa. For details of other courses being offered by the QMA this month, see here.

Three talented Indian musicians will be performing at the Al Ghazal Club on June 20 at 6:30pm.
