As hopes mount for a possible end to the GCC crisis, Qatari and Kuwaiti officials met in Doha on Wednesday.
A senior-level meeting between Qatari and Kuwaiti officials took place in Doha on Wednesday, amid heightened attention on solving the three-year Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] crisis.
Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with the envoy to Kuwait’s Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Dr Ahmad Nasser Al Mohammad Al Sabah in the Qatari capital to discuss issues of common interest.

The meeting came just hours after Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a written message from the neighbouring country’s Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
The letter addressed the importance of the growing relations between the two countries and means of further enhancing them, authorities said.
Relations between the two Gulf states has been steadily growing ever since the 2017 Saudi-led illegal blockade on Qatar, with Kuwait playing a key role as the mediator between all GCC countries in a bid to resolve the crisis.

Wednesday’s developments also comes as a number of meetings and comments in recent weeks have spiked hopes for a potential end to the blockade.
On Sunday, the GCC’s Secretary General Nayef Al-Hajraf met with Qatar’s minister of foreign affairs to discuss the future of the fragmented GCC.
Al-Hajraf’s visit came after consecutive meetings within the second week of September, where he met with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait.
The meetings were also followed by continuous visits from US representatives, with an official claiming the near-end of the three-year-long illegal land, air and sea blockade.
