In a sign that the weather is finally beginning to cool off, rain is expected to hit the northwestern parts of Qatar this weekend, forecasters at the Qatar Meteorology Department have said.

There is also chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, a meteorologist told Doha News. Temperatures will still reach a high of 39C but fall to a low of 29C tonight.

The inclement weather is an indication that summer is coming to a close and cooler weather may not be that far off.

“This month, the weather will change,” the forecaster said. “It will be cooler at night and hot (only) during the midday.”
