The annual International Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival has snuck up on us once again, this time in the form of cryptic advertising in local newspapers.
The annual event, now its in seventh year, will be held next week from April 21-24 at the Sheraton, with additional screenings at Souq Waqif, Katara, Hyatt Plaza, Al-Khor and for the first time in Mesaieed. It is free and open to the public.
This year’s theme will focus on dialogue, which “we need at a time when journalists conveying the truth get killed and detained,” festival director Abbas Arnaout said.
With a wide range of films of various lengths, there is something for everyone at this festival, and we’ve never come away disappointed. The hardest part is choosing which films to watch in the limited time we have.
So mark your calendars, people! And check out the program guide here.
