From a chance to watch free films under the stars to indulging in some Shakespeare to cheering on the national youth football team to gawking at classic cars and motorcycles, there’s quite a few things going on in Qatar over the next few days.
Here are the highlights:
Classic bike and car show
Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and car lovers are expected to descend on Doha this weekend for the third annual GCC Bike and Classic Car show.
Participants will start gathering after Friday prayers (around 12:30pm) at the Museum of Islamic Art before setting off on the “Khaleejona Wahed” (“Our Gulf is one”) ride around 2pm towards Katara, where the two-day event takes place.
The event officially starts at 4:30pm on Friday with live entertainment as well as a motorcycle and classic cars competition.
Sunday’s activities kick off at 2:30pm with a motorcycle rider skills competition, a tricycle drift challenge and a mini motorcycle contest.
Registration for the competitions will be open between 8:30am and 3:30pm on Friday at Katara. However, the event is free for spectators who want to check out the action.

Hamlet
Shakespeare’s dark, tragic, and longest masterpiece will come to life tonight as thespians from the world-renowned Globe Theatre take to the stage for a one-night only performance of the playwright’s Hamlet at the Al Rayyan Theater at Souq Waqif.
The free event is organized in conjunction with the British Council and is part of its year-long “Shakespeare Lives” cultural program.
The play follows the recently fatherless Hamlet, a melancholy Danish king who seeks vengeance after hearing that his father was murdered. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held from 7pm onwards. Interested residents can reserve a free seat online here.
Free open-air film screenings
Bollywood enthusiasts in Qatar may want to head to Al Khor this weekend to enjoy free classic and popular contemporary movies under the stars.
Two open-air theaters have been set up at the Al Khor Worker’s Sports Complex, which caters primarily to the country’s large migrant worker population. Screenings are free and open to the public, and run from 5:30pm until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
AFC U-23 Qatar match
After beating China 3-1 during last night’s game, Qatar’s U-23 national football team will face off against Iran on Friday, Jan. 15, at the Al Sadd SC Stadium as part of the three-week championship tournament.

Al Dana Green Run
Break out your running shoes this weekend and take advantage of the good weather at the annual Al Dana 3km Green Run on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 1pm onwards at the Aspire Zone.

- QatART Market: Qatar’s handmade community will once again showcase their creations at the QatART pop up bazaar on Friday, Jan. 15, from 3 to 8pm. Members of the QatART community are also hosting various workshops at Katara’s Art Studios for children looking for a creative respite during their weekends. This Friday’s schedule includes a clay workshop that costs QR35 per participant.
