Bellamy Brothers live in concert

Legendary rock-country duo the Bellamy Brothers are performing in Qatar this weekend for the first time.

Throughout a career that’s spanned more than four decades, the siblings have released some 20 No. 1 singles, including the 1976 hit Let Your Love Flow.

The concert takes place at the Qatar National Convention on Thursday, Sept. 4. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets cost between QR150 and QR750 and can be purchased online.

How Women Succeed

The local publishers of a book aimed at empowering women to grow and succeed are hosting a day-long “transformational event” on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The How Women Work session targets women looking to enrich their personal and professional lives by focusing on exploring what success means, how to define it, how to create it and how to grow more of it.

Arab Bowling Championship

Competitors from across the region will be squaring off at the 5th Arab Bowling Championships all weekend, starting at 10am each day.

The tournament is being held at the the Qatar Bowling Center, which is located in Al Bidda, near Mannai Roundabout. The free event is organized by the Qatar Bowling Federation and is open to the public.

Kayaking

Local environmental education company Entalek is organising a sunset kayaking tour this weekend on Sept. 5 at the Al Thakira Reserve. Participants will learn how to paddle and will get a first-hand view of Qatar’s extensive mangrove system. Tickets cost QR200, and can be booked online. ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Jump on the viral trend sweeping the world and take part in Qatar’s largest ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, hosted by the Grand Hyatt. The event will be held Friday, Sept. 5 at 3pm at the hotel’s beach. Donations start at QR100, and include BBQ and beverages. The event is on a first come, first serve basis, and proceeds from donations will be split between The ALS Association and another yet-unannounced charity.

The event is BYOB – Bring Your Own Bucket.

Bonus: 7ayak Start-Up

Local coworking center 7ayak Hub will be hosting its first event – geared towards entrepreneurs and startup companies – tonight, Sept. 3, at its offices near the Immigration Roundabout. Attendees will have the chance to speak to local startups, give feedback and vote for their favourite early stage company.

Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, cost QR50 or QR100. The more expensive ticket gives attendees a 50-percent discount on a one-month membership to 7ayak.
