The Covid-19 screening app Ehteraz has released a new update today, and there are some notable changes.
You may have woken up only to realise that the golden frame on your Ehteraz app is gone. Well, you’re not alone.The update removed the gold frame for those who took their second dose more than nine months ago.
The latest version of the app now adds a ‘recovered’ label instead of the gold frame for those who recently contracted and recovered form the virus.
Individuals who have recovered from Covid-19, and have an official test result from a ministry-approved medical centre, are given nine months validity of immunity. They are also eligible for the same privileges as vaccinated people under the current Covid-19 rules.

On 14 February, the MoPH reported 601 new cases of Covid-19. This showcases a steady decrease in daily infections throughout the past few weeks. This dip in cases indicates that the third wave is slowly being contained in the Gulf state as officials continue to urge citizens to get their vaccine shots.
However, there seem to be some issues within the update. People have taken to social media to express their confusion and frustration with the update, and the functionality of the application. Multiple people who have already taken the booster shot seem to have also lost their gold frame.

While these users are often advised to call the Ehteraz helpline, sources have told Doha News that the helpline is ‘unresponsive’ and ‘unhelpful’.
This is not the first time that users experience issues with the Covid-19 screening application. During the middle of last month at the height of the third wave, the Ehteraz app crashed. It is important to note that these crashes cause restriction in the movement of people in the country.
