HMC’s emergency department saw 1,241 patients yesterday and 1,125 on Monday, a marked jump from the first relatively quiet day of Eid celebrations, according to local media reports.
Injuries from traffic accidents were the highest on Monday and included a local man who was airlifted to Hamad hospital’s intensive care unit after crashing his vehicle into a truck on Salwa Road.
Separately, 28 people were injured when two buses collided in the Industrial area. Civil Defense was on the scene to cut a vehicle open to free a driver, Gulf Times reports.
Yesterday, a two-year-old expat was rushed to Hamad after being struck by a car in her compound.
Other accidents included a crash on Dukhan highway that injured three nationals, a collision of two busses in the Industrial Area that injured one, according to Gulf Times.
Many residents employed in the private sector return to work today, while others will enjoy a few more days off. Most government employees will resume working on Aug. 28.
