Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-born British architect who designed Qatar’s upcoming Al Wakrah World Cup Stadium, has died of a heart attack.
Hadid, 65, was being treated for bronchitis at a hospital in Miami, according to the BBC.

Over the span of her long career, Hadid has designed several award-winning buildings, and in 2004, became the first female and first Muslim to be awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
When her design of the Al Wakrah stadium drew controversy after critics said it looked like a female body part, she called the claim “ridiculous.”
She added that such remarks would not have been made if a man had designed the structure.
In 2014, she also ended up suing a journalist who claimed she was “showing no concern” for the blue-collar workers tasked with building the 2022 World Cup stadium.
