Al Raya: Schools ask Qatari families using voucher program to pay tuition, or withdraw students
Citing delays in payment under the government’s new voucher program for Qataris, some private schools have given families a Jan. 3 deadline to pay up or withdraw their children, Al Raya reports.
This year, the Supreme Education Council extended the voucher program to make locals at 32 private schools eligible for financial aid of up to QR28,000 ($7,600) annually, including the American School of Doha, Doha College, the Cambridge schools and MES Indian school.
But many parents have had to pay tuition from their pockets while waiting for the voucher payments. Others have promised the schools that the money was forthcoming. The delay appears to be on the side of the Ministry of Finance, according to Al Raya.
