The Qatari duo has now won four of the six tournament appearances in 2025.
Qatar’s Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse clinched their second consecutive gold of the ongoing Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour season, claiming the Newport Beach Elite title on Saturday.
The star volleyball duo defeated Brazil’s Evandro Goncalves and Arthur Lanci 2-0 in the final played in U.S.’s California to clinch their second title in two weeks, following the impressive display in Rio de Janeiro Elite last month.
The commanding display extends their tally to four wins out of six appearances in the current tour.

The 2020 Olympics bronze medalists took the first set 21-16 rather comfortably, but then had to salvage a 30-28 win in the second to seal the win.
“It was a really tough tournament, and the final was no different,” Younousse said after the win.
“We faced so many tough teams here, and we wanted to congratulate Evandro and Arthur, who had a really good run. We love to entertain people and give the fans a great final, and I think that today we did it. I hope everyone enjoyed it.”
Recurring injuries have limited them to just six appearances so far this season, yet the duo has made the most out of the limited opportunities.
In addition to the four titles, Younousse and Tijan have remained unbeaten in the last 11 fixtures, discarding the three forfeit defeats at the Monteral Elite after Younousse suffered an injury.

“Winning here feels amazing,” Tijan said after the hard-fought win in Newport Beach, which evoked a passionate celebration from the Qataris.
“My wife is from the U.S., and I am very happy to be here and win the gold medal. It means so much to our entire family.”
In addition to the Rio win, the two had emerged at the top of the podium in Gstaad — another Elite event — as well as the Xiamen Challenge.
